“What happened down in the dungeons between you and Professor Quirrell is a complete secret, so, naturally, the whole school knows. One More Day!!!

I am so excited to be able to go home tomorrow! Me and my mom are really close, and I miss her so much. Even though I call her everyday (or many times a day :)), it just doesn’t seem enough. But though I am SUPER excited, I’m also very nervous. Mainly, because this is the first time I will be flying completely alone.

I have once before flown alone, but my Dad saw me off on one end and my brother got me at the other. This is the first time that I have to get myself to the airport, go through security, get on the right plane (knock on wood), get on the right shuttle to take me 2 hours to get home. Ack! And knowing me, I’ll probably get lost somewhere along the way (knock on wood twice).

I’m not exactly afraid of flying per say, but I am scared when the plane goes through turbulence and stuff like that. And question, who is the idiot that came up with the idea,” Its just like riding a roller coaster!” Ah, no, I beg to differ. For you see, roller coasters are obviously attached to the GROUND! Whereas airplanes are obviously not. So I am just hoping that I have a very smooth flight.

In preparation for my exciting solo adventure, I have looked up all of the different flight regulations, written up lists of my outfits with all corresponding accessories, and made about 10 various To- Do lists for me to go. Yeah, I would say that I’m a little nervous :)) But I like to be prepared. In my defense, I’m not just going home, but while there, my family and I are going to San Diego for our family vacation. So I not only have to pack for the time at home, but also for San Diego. So its like double the responsibility to get everything right.

I also have a horrible knack for always forgetting something. Though I am a far cry better than my sister, who once forgot her entire suitcase… :)) But at the same time I’m envious because then she got to do some major shopping :PP But I am still hoping that doesn’t happen to me. So send me some major prayers for success, because I’m going HOME!!!

P.S. Photos to follow!

Summer Book List

As an extremely avid reader, it sometimes bugs me when people tell me that they don’t have time to read. Well of course you don’t. A person only has time to do the things that they want to do, so if you don’t make reading a priority, it will never get done. That is why I make sure that I read for at least 30 minutes everyday. And that doesn’t include my scripture study or studying for classes. I mean a good solid, reading for fun, 30 minutes. And it really changes my day.

I enjoy a wide variety of genres of books. Some of my favorites are classic literature, romance novels, and post-apocalyptic. I have recently finished reading Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe, The Road by Cormac McCarthy, and When Calls the Heart by Janette Oke. I enjoy reading multiple books at once because it lets me change around according to my mood at the time. I usually read about 4-5 different books at once. The books that I have currently moved onto read are Victoria Victorious by Jean Plaidy, The Princess Bride by William Goldman (yes, like in the movie :)), Swiss Family Robinson by Johann Wyss, and The Princess Academy by Shannon Hale.

My goal for this summer is to read over 50 books and I am half way to that goal (look for the coming Summer Bucket List blog). I counted yesterday, and I am at 26 books. Another goal is to re-read the entire Happy Potter series before the last movie comes out and I am at #4, and still going strong.(Just a little side note, I am a HUGE harry Potter fan and have read all the books over 25 times each. No joke :)) I work part time, and also am taking 8 credits this semester, which during a summer term means it is like taking 16 credit. So if in my super busy schedule, I can find time to enjoy good literature, so can you :)

Wedding Thoughts

Most blogs seem to be about a specific subject, anything from cars to the weather. I wanted this blog to be about whatever I am into at that point in time, whether it be fashion, baking, books, or dancing. I have a variety of interests that change with my mood.  A little background about me; I love gymnastics, I am very artistic and love to create things, and I am an avid reader and a closet author.

So, for the first subject of my blog, I am in the mood for weddings! My co-worker was looking over place settings at work, and I have been looking up wedding dresses this afternoon. People always talk about how boring traditional weddings are and that they are too predictable; boring food, lame music and the likes. But I think that is what makes them so wonderful is the tradition of it all. Well, maybe not the bad food… But some of my happiest memories are at weddings. Its a wonderful time to celebrate with the ones you love no matter the setting.

On that note however, maybe I should just come out right and tell you that I am planning on having a very elaborate and extravagant wedding. No Podunk, cheapside wedding for me. Don’t go thinking that I am a spoiled brat or anything, believe me I know limits and how to be frugal. But at the same time, a wedding is a once in a lifetime event (or at least I hope so) :)) I have been planning my own wedding since I was about 10. I don’t want one of those over-the-top weddings; I want it to be very elegant and sophisticated. Something that Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly wouldn’t blush to attend. I love antique beauty and vintage loveliness. I think that it is the perfect combination for a romantic celebration.

I have been deliberating between two different styles; both very pretty, but also different. The first would be based on a peacock feather; lovely Sapphire blues and emerald greens with some hints of purple. Calla lilies, dipped blue orchids, and blooming hydrangea’s would make up the flowers, with bits of silver jewels. I can see the dress being classic, but also more modern; fitted and edged with crystals. Very modern, but still conservative.

One the other hand I see a sea of ballet pink and pale gray, with ivory and pale gold accents. It would be a very floaty, light feeling, with billows of fabrics and graceful draping. Flowers would play a lesser, but still important rule of decorations; Calla lilies again, along with pink orchids (I’m sensing a pattern), gardenias, and sweet peas.

For dresses i have two completely different ideas, that fit the two different ideas. The first is a more modern dress made by Temperly London. It has a very sleek feel, with lots of bling. The second is completely made of lace, with a boat neckline, bell sleeves, and an A-line skirt.

When my wedding gets here, it is going to be amazing. Now I just got to choose which one I want….:))
